I have my adult female alone in a 29 gallon tank (same size since I got her as a baby), and she's done great in there. But, I've been strongly considering upgrading her to a 40 gallon breeder or a 40 gallon long. Is there such thing as a tank being too big for a single axolotl? I don't want to get another, because (I know they can regenerate basically everything) I'd like to avoid any breeding/cannibalism if I can.

I don't think a tank can be too big for an axolotl.
It can be too big for you, but everything smaller than a Mexican lake is certainly not too big for the axolotl.

At worst, you might find that the axolotl underutilises the space - that s/he ignores one side of the tank, for example, but from my experience: the bigger the tank, the more active the axolotl.

In any case a bigger tank requires less frequent maintenance and is easier to keep healthy - so that's a win.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
