I am about to get some salamanders (two, probably tiger, salamanders) and i am not sure about what should the bedding be. i checked on the faqs but it wasnt very clear so i would like you to tell me what the bedding should be? how deep? etc. and how should i clean it and how often. I am also worried because the environment has to be moist but wouldn't that result in fungi or mould below the bedding??? if so, how could i prevent this? also, how big should the tank be? thanks for helping

Organic topsoil, coco fiber, a mix of the two.

I have mine about 4 inches deep. I clean it totally about once every 2 months or so. I've never had a mold problem.

I keep 2 in a 20gallon long.

In addition to what Joan has said, give them some hides and a heavy shallow water dish. Clean up the poop at least once a week. General rule of thumb is 12 linear inches per tiger - a 20 long aquarium works well for two.

The bedding should be moist, but not soaking wet. Soil has the property of decomposing wastes, so mold is rarely a problem. Coco-fiber is a little more prone to mold, but it's still usually not a serious problem.

I agree with Joan & Jan regarding tank size. A 20-long is about 75cm x 30cm x 30cm.
