I had 6 eggs, all hatched and were eating daphnia from birth, 2 died and I was worried that the daphnia might not be small enough so i started feeding BBS as well.. but a few days later they didnt seem to be eating and one by one they died until there was only one left :( He survived for a week or so, and seemed to be growing very fast but one day I woke up and was dead... very sad :(
I was doing daily water changes by sucking them up in a pippette and putting them in a new tub - could this have been stressing them too much? Only I can't really think what would kill them one by one other than that??
Want to know beccause now I've got 10 more :D and waiting for them to hatch but I really dont want the same thing to happen..
Thanks

Could have been genetics. Do you know if it was the first batch the pair had laid or if the female was young or bred often.

For water changes, I'd use a turkey baster(larger than a pipette) or tip the container over a net(just in case) and get most of the water out, then pour the axies and the little bit of water into the clean container.

Hmm, I always was a little scared to use anything like a turkey baster/pipette. I used a plastic spoon and transported each individually this way to the new tub. I have not had any losses yet, but man can these guys eat! I was running out of bbs with the amount I was "brewing" before and I had to up my "recipe".

I agree with animalloversfb with the possibility of bad genetics, etc.

OK thanks, I hope my next 12 survive! :D
