My hatched axies (a week old) don't want to eat their BBS as much as they're supposed to. I had a rough BBS start this time. It took way too long for the BBS to hatch. It's solved now but whatever I feed my babies, their bellies are still not filled and I have a few floating babies once in a while. I tried daphnia but they were a bit too big for them. I'm kinda worried. They do snap at the BBS, but it's way less than they're supposed to. What am I doing wrong or what can I do?

They're in a container. Nothing special. Works for me all the time. Daily water changes. 47457 checks a day. I don't know.

Where are the bbs located in the water column? How old are the pre-hatched bbs? Are you using d-capsulated bbs? What kind of water are you using? What kind of salt are you using? What is the salt to water mixing ratio? Using light in the hatchery? What is the temp. of the hatchery?

My babies never ate when I was watching them, but could clear their tub in the time it took me to make a cuppa. I also found they would eat like pigs one day and not be interested the next - unpredictable little things....grrr!

If you have light above your babies' tub the BBS will migrate to the surface, leaving the babies at the bottom. I also find my babies feed better at night.

Other tips for BBS include making sure you rinse them thoroughly to eliminate salt and feeding as soon as the BBS are hatched.

You could also try baby daphnia or moina, microworms, vinegar eels, or even small bloodworms - whatever you can get.

Ooh, thank god, they have fat orange bellies now :D
I guess they prefer to eat their BBS in the middle of the night.
