Hey Steven that set-up looks cool. How well did you clean the shells b4 you put them in the tank? I was going to put sum shells in my tank but i wasn't sure if they would hurt my axolotls (being from salt water)

You really might want to consider seperating your axie from those goldfish. Goldfish can be very aggresive and those are big enough to easily tear off your axies gills and arms. It will be putting a lot of stress on your axie keeping them in the same tank. But other than that you seem to have a good set up.

Not to mention that tank is overstocked looks like a 10G to me? or correct me if i am wrong.

Very beautiful tank set up

Yes, I agree, the goldfish should be seperated. Goldish also carry parasites that could be harmful to your little friends, or they just might end up being right out agressive. I think that two Axolotls can be kept in a 10 gallon happily from what i have read in a few different posts, I could be wrong on this. I my self have a 20 gallon tall and three axies, which I will be upgrading to a 30 gallon long tank in the future, either this, or setting up an old ten gallon tank for one and the 20 would be for the other two. Also, do you use a feeding dish for your axies? The pebbles can be accidentily eaten. I love the Axies little house you have for them! It's so cute, it looks like something from the cartoon the flintstones, and i love that cartoon

hehe rheann i meant the 2 goldfishes and the axie is overstocking the tank. 1 goldfish needs 8 gallons of swimming water and his goldfish are pretty large so 10G is good for one. goldfish are very messy fish and poop a lot as do axolots which is why i mentioned its overstocked. He has 2 goldfish and 2 axies in there.

I was just explaining the bit about the Axies so he wouldn't get confused about them and the fish being together ^_^ Yes, I agree totally on the goldfish. Goldfish get pretty big.

Don't you find it annoying when the places that sell axies don't give out the correct information about care?

I empathise with ya Steve, when I first came on here I was told half of my stuff was wrong too

, but I was never given any info from the place I brought my axies from.

I had to replace my gravel for sand also as gravel really is not good for them. If they swallow it it clogs them up and all sorts of problems come from that.

There are also loads of other water creatures that its best not to mix with axies, one unfortunately being goldfish. This is because as others have already said they can be quite aggressive and damage gills etc.

Basically its expensive coming on this website because you realize that most of your gear is wrong have to go and buy replacements

- but these people really do know what they are talking about on here - my adult female looks so much healthier for all the changes I made following their advice.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
