I have a Tiger Salamander. Today while I was doing housekeeping in her habitat. I fed her & as is usual sat her in her pool. I heard a squeak & she made a motion like she was belching. Then she did it again with her mouth open like she was gagging. After that she seemed to be fine but after every few breaths her body & breath would do the motions just like a hiccup. I watched her kind of worried (and she watched me probably wondering what I was staring at) & after a couple minutes it stopped. She seems fine & went back into her burrow.

Has anyone heard of such a thing?

I have heard of some Axolotls doing this, as far as I know, no harm came of them. I believe it occurred just after eating also, but as to why would just be speculation.

I've seen this happen as well. I'm sure it's something akin to hiccups and it causes no harm.
