Hibernating?

The other day i got this crazy idea that my newts could be hibernating! Well maybe not exactly hibernating....
it has been super cold here lately and i got the newts from a pet store that was in a warmer area, so they must think its cold.
Any ways i thought this because the have been hiding forever wont come out. only if i dig them out of their little hideyhole. They havent been eating and been super sluggish.

Are they sleping through the cold weather?

where they had come from was quite warmer, so they got used to that. I brought them to my house and at night it gets down to the fifties, during the day its in the mid sixties they would sleep all day and not eat
