They look like Tiger Salamanders to me. Some just don't have bright markings.

Just read your other post. If it's got silver spots on it, then it's probably a blotched Tiger Salamander.

as stated in chat, either a tiger (with immature markings) or maybe a blue spotted with immature colour pigments

im no wizz when it comes to this, dont take it as gospel

I don't think that's A. laterale as it doesn't have the long toes. Where did these come from? Arizona? If not, than I would say it's probably an eastern tiger salamander.

He said his grandpaw picked them up in Mexico.

Well than it's not a blotched tiger as they don't get much past Colorado. I really don't know anything about Ambystomids in Central America, except for the axolotl of course.:D

A number of Ambystoma species are protected in Mexico. Your grandfather and yourself are probably in violation of Mexican and U.S. Federal and State laws.

If it were me, I would be more interested in finding out the laws regulating Ambystoma species then trying to identify them in this open forum.

Your animals might be Ambystoma velasci or one of the malvortium subspecies.

well, thank you all. I didnt know about the laws in Mexico, and i doubt my grandpa did either. Sorry, if that offended people that he got them. He didnt take them from a river or anything he bought them down there so i dont know if that still makes it bad. By the way, I am a girl not a "he".:p anyways, thank you for helping me.

also, its hard to figure out the laws concerning my salamander if i dont even know what kind it is :p i looked up alot of info. on blotched and blue spotted salamanders, ive deducted that Tanya is a blotched tiger.
