I recently lost my fish due to stres of a house moving. I am very sad and don't want to get the same kind of fish. I thought of getting two axotls. I was wondering if my current tank would be good enough, its a 57 litre hexagon tank, here is a pic of it

It has a filter and the polestyrine at the bottom with a black bottom too. Its just that its higher than wider. Do you suggest I use it or get a wider tank? Thanks for taking the time to answer this for me :)

Although wider is always better, you could probably get away with keeping ONE axolotl in there but even that would be cramped I think.

You weren't planning on using that gravel were you?

Hiya
I agree i think it would be a lil cramped in there.
I think it'd be best to invest in a bigger tank.
Also Axolotls are very addictive and you'll probably end up wanting more than one!!

Thanks all :) In that case I will give my Bristlenose Plecs another go. My heart is just so broken, did not really wanted a similar looking fish. But I can't afford a bigger tank now :(

Keep an eye out for second hand fish tanks.
You can keep one axolotl in a 2 foot tank. You may be able to find one thats not too expensive!

Thanks Mike, I always do research before, I know just about everything of Bristlenoses and was so sad when mine died after only being about a year old.
Mel I might consider that, I have always been facinated by these little fellows
Justin if my tank was good enough then I would have replaced the gravel with stones, cause i read up that the little guys tend to eat it and then it blocks their guts.
