Well this is from a day in a beautiful village of Cantabria. I love this place since there is this amazing pond in a cave where you can always find something nice.
During that day i found B.bufo, R.temporaria(think so), S.salamandra and L.helveticus.
Excuse the quality of some pics...

The quality is just fine Rodrigo, I wish we had such nice rivers and rocky ponds as in spain here in holland, makes me feel all warm inside

Very nice habitat photos!

Beautiful, I wish I was there again!

Beautiful photos Rodrigo! My area of New York looks similar in the summer. Of course the leaves are gone here now and it's relatively warm at 50F (10C) but rainy today. In these areas here you can find Eurycea bislineata, Pseudotriton ruber and Gyrinophilus porphyriticus at and around water level and Desmognatus fuscus and ochrophaeus as you climb the banks. I'd rather be where you are now though! Please keep sharing, especially in winter!

I´m sure you have the same tipe or even better landscapes in Holland...it has to be beautiful

The weather is very nice there Brian...while here it freezes and snows and winters are tough...in the very north it´s very rainy but never snows or really freezes for long. Of course the leaves have fallen too hehe. The pics were taken in summer, that´s why trees have their leaves, and that L.helveticus was still trying to find some mate. Poor thing...he was the only one left in the pond.
I´ll try and go to Cantabria to see my family in christmas and i hope i can scape some day to snap some nice photos. I defnitely adore Cantabria...i mostly grew up there and it´s just a paradise.

looks awesome, I wish I could go herping during december here

Well, I can assure you that Holland looks nothing like that! We don't have any rivers here, and if we do, they're huge, filthy and meant for big boats. We do have some nice forrests though with a nice moss growth here and there, still, once I've crossed the border from holland and enter belgium of france, it's paradise...

Holland is so flat! Except the province Limburg, which is the "tail" of holland on the right bottom, if you know how the map of Holland looks. This is also the only province in which you can find the most native dutch newts: Alpestris, Cristatus, Vulgaris, Helveticus and Salamandra Salamandra...

I went herping there this summer and still feel bad about not taking pictures. The place where I found Cristatus and Alpestris was also teeming with Hyla Arborea, a magical sight.

Amazing pics! Looks just like Panther Creek down here in Georgia during the Summer. Both are a perfect place for herping and the landscaping is beautiful.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
