Long story short, i accidently bought hermit crab sand for my axolotl. Would it be okay to still use it temporarily? Or would i just have to buy a different sand?

I looked up hermit crab sand, and it seems that it has added calcium. I think it could effect your ph. Maybe someone else will know better.

Hey,

Hermit Crab sand is also more likely to float in water - it's not meant as a fish tank substrate. I really wouldn't use it.

El.

Hermit crab tanks are not meant to be aquatic - their sand is not meant to absorb water like aquatic sand. I would not use it - it would not settle well and could remain floating/suspended in the water. Considering the axolotls breathe through gills, suspended particles in the water might affect their breathing

Huh, good to know. I did not realize it would float.

Thanks for all your help guys!
