Here's something i was reading that looked interesting. It stated that the mandarin newt is caught for "medicinal usage" meaning: "Of, relating to, or having the properties of medicine"
Here's what it said:
*
T. shanjing has a close associations with humans. It is regularly caught and dried for medicinal usage, and because of its beautiful coloration patterns, it is commonly sold in the pet trade industry.
*
this was taken from:
http://elib.cs.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/amphib_query?where-genus=Tylototriton&where-species=shanjing#264
NOW, if you guys already KNEW that, *FORGIVE ME*. but i tried figuring out what EXACTLY it is used for but couldnt find any info in that.
anyone know what?
