The point of this thread is to share what we think in our opinion is the most useful piece of equipment we own when it comes to making our keeping of axolotls easy and trouble free, so hopefully we can help each other out.

I will begin.

I have a battery powered cleaner, much like a gravel siphon, but with a mesh bag on the outlet that sucks up derbies and catches it, and can be emptied into the bin, and one can also attach a hose to the outlet for making water changes quick.

cost me $30 from ebay.

I think when it comes to handy equipment, the petri dish I use as a food bowl makes life so much easier when it comes to feeding my small newts with bloodworm/whiteworm, etc!
Much less mess, and also the newts associate the contents of the dish as being 'dinner' !

As for caudate-watching, I think my reading-glasses would have to be my most useful piece of equipment!

If I had to say what my favourite piece of equipment (other than the obvious tank, pump etc) then I would have to say pieces of spare tubing. They come in handy for vacuuming, siphoning and every time I have a random idea for some aquarium based invention it always seems to involve a length of tube somewhere.

My favourite piece of kit for every conceivable area of life in general though is duct tape! I love it!

Turkey baster(s) and plastic tubs left over from chinese take-away!

The basters for cleaning, feeding, and the tubs for squirting the baster into while I'm cleaning out. Good excuse to keep eating Chinese takeout ;)

A 10 mL syringe I use for doing water tests.

My partner is a pharmacist so she was able to snag one from work for free

Before I had the syringe I was dipping the test tubes in the tank and dipping and pouring til I had roughly 5mL
