Illness/Sickness: Help

Hi I have an axolotl and we came home yesterday to find that it had looks like bruising on its belly area and it has got worse over nite it looks like its a hole their. We have rocks so we DNt know if he has eaten a rock their is nothing else in the tank apart from weed for him and we Dnt know what has happened can anyone help? He was at top of tank most of night and was like he couldn't get air cause he couldnt mow much now his at bottom any help would be great thanx

Hi, can you answer some questions to help figure out what's wrong with him?

What's the parameter of the water? PH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate? (If you don't have a test kit can you get a local pet shop to test your water)
Temperature?
What substrate is he kept on?
Can you post some pictures of him so we can see the problem?

I can't upload a photo at moment cause I am not on computer but it's only a small tank not big one and his temperature is normal so are all his levels they have been checked

Do you keep him on gravel?
