i have 3 chinese worty newts and 2 of them started attacking each other very violently today the temp of the tank is around 71 degrees F and its a 40 gallon tank. please advise i am really worried i separated the 2 that were attacking eachother by putting one of them into a spare 10 gallon i had set up.
thanks

Warty newts are very aggressive by nature, so it's not an unusual problem at all. Males are more aggressive than the females and so if you were going to have 3 warties in a tank, it would be best to have 1 male and 2 females to reduce aggression. You will likely need to keep the 2 seperate from now on.

I find these newts to bite each other , even in the head. I had one grab an arm of a partner and start twirlling in a circle trying to rip it off. This was during feeding time when they smelled food. Ive kept 2 together with no problem in a smaller 100% aquatic tank. I also had 12 together temp. but never tried for long term. In pet stores, where 15 will be together in a 20gallon,they basically hide and pile up on each other. from what ive encountered, Aggression will come *more* during breeding season and feeding time. But the "trio" mixture of sexes should help.

I just bought two newts about two days ago. I notice one newt two is missing. The other one bottom lip seems to be missing. What should I do?
