cheers, that looks similar.... what types of plants r ideal? and wot other salamanders would it get on wit

I thought this was your boyfriends?

Aquatic, low light, cold loving plants, and no other salamanders can cohabitate with them. It's best not to mix species at all.

it is his, but he's onli jus got in and its in a temp tank so i wana sort it out 4 him. thanks 4 all ur help

sorry, just off the subject here but anyway:

Lindsay, you'll find that your quote is wrong, some animals do kill for sport, think of a cat with a mouse or sometimes killer whales with a seal, and also some animals do torture each other read this:

sorry again for posting off the subject.

Will J is right, cat's have killed toads and left them lying around my back yard.

William Jones: Thanks! When I found it, I had seriously considered not posting it, because of those reasons but did it anyway. I guess the quote should be redone

thanks!! I'll probably end up taking it down.

wouldn't the cat have left the toad because the cat realized it was toxic and therefore couldn't eat it,and then left it there? And about the Amazonian ant, wasn't it just cutting the insects to pieces so that they were edible and able to carry their prey into their hills? hmm...ah well, yeah I've seen wales and seals flinging penguins around. I guess by the quote, I meant that animals always have some sort of purpose, or so it seems. It's always to kill something to potentially eat it. If they find it's not edible or decide they no longer want it, they'll leave it. Humans, on the other hand, are known to kill for pleasure without any intention of using the kill for survival. bla bla bla ramble ramble, sorry guys. I'll shut up now..

the ants did cut up the insects, but they also keep it there, whilst it is alive for over 12 hours.

At the same time, animals do not have the reason or logic that we do. They don't look at the dead insect and laugh because it's slowly dying. It's purely instinct and the fact that they need to eat. I've been looking online and there are many debates about this subject. I am having a hard time figuring it out. Lots of people said that cats have been so domesticated that they don't eat what they catch b/c they're already being fed by their owners. I'm sure I'll keep reading up on it, being a zoology major. That's why I can't let it go, b/c it interests me, animal behavior anyway. I'll let it go, who knows what the animals are thinking...

ooooo about the whole domesticated cat idea, maybe that's why the quote says "wild animals"..hmmmmmm i guess I could reason that because the seals who fling around penguins always eat them...AHH i said i'd stop..okay, really stoppping now..

heya iv set up al the tank wit plants n logs n rocks n that, but the water is all murky....what would help?

what kind of logs did you put in? that could be the reason the water is murky, it could also be that you just need the tank to settle. did you use dechlorinated water? otherwise it sounds good!

it was a log from a fish place near me. how do you dechlorinate water? wil that make it clear?

okay the wood is okay, the chlorine doesn't cloud the water, but it is lethal to newts, use spring or bottled water, or use ths special stuff that gets rid of the chlorine, i'm sorry but i don't really know the correct way to go about it.

oh yeah i used bottled water hehe. would algae eaters help or will he jus eat them
