Hi,
I've got six adult axies all living happily...and despite being told they were all male, I've now had two females lay eggs. One batch seemed to be infertile but the second female's eggs have now hatched.
I have about 40-50 hatchlings split between two tanks. Water level a few centimetres with daily water changes, removal of dead axis etc.
I bought some daphinia from local aquatics centre, however, most are too big for hatchlings to eat. I phoned a reptile outlet and a guy told me he used finely broken up fish food to get axis to eat, until they were big enough to tackle daphnia.
Is this effective?
I am a teacher at a Primary school and the 200+ kids (plus adults) are fascinated! Any help to get some growth and survival would be great.
Thanks,
