Hey, I found two salamander larvae in a stream today. Here's some description to start with and I'll try to get some pictures up later.
One is about 3" svl and the other is about 2" svl, they each have 4 toes on their front feet, and have a tannish base color with a darker marbleing they have a fairly wide head and the snout is sort of flat like this ] and the tails come to a point, they still have full gills, that are red in color, their bellys are pinkish and unmarked. The tails extend almost as long as their body, just short the length of their heads.
I'm in the Wheeling, WV area, which is far north West Virginia.
