Hi,

I have two axies that I have had since August and they were about 3-4 months old when I got them and the female one is laying her first batch of eggs!

Came as a total shock, I can see a jelly thing in there now which I guess is the spermaphore, do I need to remove this? It's too late to do more damage I guess...

Anyway I don't know what to do. I have a small tank about 30x20cm that I could move them into, and all the eggs are attached onto a plant so I could move them.

But are they too young to have eggs? Should I just leave them in there? It breaks my heart to kill them. I can't keep them but perhaps I should try and raise them and then give them away once they're bigger?

Please help.

Also, what are eggs meant to look like? The mum is a wild type and all the eggs look like pokeballs, as in half of the egg is black but half of the egg is a light grey

I'm the same, my Axies are of a similar age to yours and I found the Spermaphores today, I am going to move any eggs to a new tank (mine spare is like a kids goldfish tank) and use all the information from here to raise them, although its their first batch so might not survive, and then try to rehome them to some of the wonderful people on here/ some of my friends that want them as I don't trust the pet shops around here.

Good Luck with your decision and remember there are lots of lovely people on here who will help you along the way :)

Thanks, it's nice to know there's someone in the same boat! Haha I wasn't ready to be a grandma but I think I'll just put the eggs into the other tank and see what happens :)
