Hello this is my first post but its not a good one. I noticed mites on my mandarin salamander today im really worried, any comments are appreciated.

Thonk you

Safest way is to remove them by hand even though it is a tedious task. Is this newt alone? If not you may want to quarantine it until all the mites have been removed to prevent infestation to the other tank inhabitants.

Also, consider that mites will appear anywhere where there is organic matter and humidity. Most species of mite are no threat for your animals, in fact they are simple commensalists.

Where on the animal were the mites located? And what did they look like? Soil mites are usually white and would be anywhere on the skin of the animal - fairly harmless, but perhaps irritating to the animal in the long run. Truly parasitic mites are usually found between the toes or the place where the legs meet the body. This would be a greater cause for concern.
