I was feeding my fire belly newts in separate feeding tank, and It came to me that I would not like to have unexpected eggs for me to take care of (dont want to go through that) and i would like to sex them but I'm not sure how to do it.
If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.
sorry for the low quality pictures

I put up some pictures of the cloaca's of both my newts
If you would like me to put up more pictures I would gladly do it. :]

I might be wrong, but they both look like females to me; judging from what my own female C.Orientalis looks like. In fact, I'm pretty sure.
If you could post images of the whole newts, someone might be able to determine their gender more reliably. Looking at the body in relation to the tail can often help. I think females tend to have longer, more slender tails, whilst males have shorter, more paddle-like tails.
I don't think you'll have to worry about eggs :p

I agree, they seem to be females. The photos don´t rule out the possibility of them being males completely out of breeding season..but i think it´s unlikely.

By the way you shouldn´t take them out to feed...handling caudates stressed them and is potentially dangerous for their sensitive skins. In short...avoid touching, handling, moving them unless absolutely necessary.

I'll post more pics
Thanks for the info, and I'll make sure I handle them less

here are the pics of the bodies and tails

Yep, I'm almost certain they're both females now.
You've a very nice looking pair there!

no in my opinion i think the one on the far right of your first pictures is a male i also think the first picture is a male

Thanks for replying :]

I was looking at the first pictures and how It does look like a male
BUT when I took a look at It In person Its Cloaca doesn't look like the male ones
The reason it looks swollen is because of its pattern its not swollen at all...
I'm almost convinced that there are both female (hopefully):p

Thanks :D
They eat A LOT
