i have a fire bellied newt which i have had for nearli 2 weeks now.. when i first got it on the thursday it ate 2 bloodworms. the man at the shop sed that it was eatin a cube of frozen bloodworms every three days this was shared with another newt. i have tried feeding it live crikets.. its not took to that either.. im really worried about him now because i dont want anything to happen to him... he mainly lives on land i never see him in the water even tho when i bought him his tank was mainly water. i dont understand. i just want it to eat!!

someone please help me!

Try some small live food. Chopped earthworms are a good option. Take a wiggling piece of worm and put it in front of the newt, and leave him be for a little bit. Come back and see if he's eaten it.

When I first got my fire belly 3 or 4 years ago, it rejected eating for a long time as well, even more than 2 weeks. Eventually, as its stress level went down, it started eating.

So, I will suggest reduce stress is the primary objective you have for the newt now. Such as ensuring the water quality, make sure the water is conditioned. Keep water quiet and still enough, try not to disturb it too much. ..etc

My newts didn't want to eat or to be in the water neither. After 3 weeks of trying daily, they started eating earthworms (I caught them in the countryside), now they eat bloodworms perfectly. Be patient :( Good luck
