Hi Guys,
I just cleaned out the tank as its been really sunny here and although my tank is not right up close to the window, for some reason some sun has got to it and turned it slightly green. After washing all the plants and tank etc, i put fresh water back in (with some of the old water still in the tank) and George & Elton seem to be fine.

I have a snail in the tank that hatched out of a batch from 4 weeks ago, they must have been there from when i bought the plants from the pet shop.

However just this minute ago i noticed something moving on a leaf, upon looking a little closer it loks like some king of leech???? its see through with a pattern and moves around. i have no idea how it got into the tank, never seen it before and with cleaning everything it must have been very lucky to still be there. I did empty a bag of daphnia in after i had cleaned it, but i didnt noice it in the bag (see through)

I have tried attaching some pictures. Hope you can make it out.

If it is a leech what is best to do? get rid? leave it? Any help would be great.

Thanks

It is a leech, but chances are it's not dangerous. Many leeches are not actually parasitic.

If you are worried about the leech, you can remove it and dispose of it humanely.

As long as its not harmful and wont harm by babies al leave it be.

Do keep in mind, though, that since you scrubbed your whole tank, you may go through a mini-cycle, where the established bacteria can't keep up with the ammonia produced by your little guys. Just keep an eye on your water quality, and be prepared to do some more frequent water changes.

The leech will probably end up as a snack if someone notices it.
