Hi there, I’m new to this forum. My axolotl Lola is 8 years old. She is not looking the greatest. I thought that I had upgraded everything appropriately with a water chiller and planting the tank to increase stability.

She was having issues about a year ago where her skin looked like it was shedding off and ulcerating. I had received good guidance that it was heat stress and I fixed the problem. She still doesn’t look that great and someone made a comment on one of my photos online that she looked like she might be morphing.

I have no idea how she would have gotten exposed to iodine or some sort of chemical. Maybe stress related? Genetics?

Anyway, would some of you good people let me know if she looks like she’s morphing? Once confirmed or denied, I will then take whatever additional steps are needed. Whatever I have to do for her I will. Thanks!!!!

looking at the eyes in the first photo they did seem to be more pronounced but that can be from the angle that the photo was taken, other than that there doesn't seem to be any other signs, such as dorsal/gill/foot webbing regression, thickening of limbs/toes etc..

Ok yeah, I think I’m paranoid. She’s looking not so good, but I’m working on getting her to eat more. Hopefully she will start looking healthier!

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. I also asked this as an actual question in a thread in case anyone wants to answer it there instead of here
