So there might be something unsafe in my tank and I’m not sure what’s wrong. It started when I got these plastic plants and a chiller for my axolotls. (February 17) I put the plants in the tank and they where fine for a few weeks until my Lucy got a fungus (February 26) so I tubbed him and it went away after a few days. but a few days later (March 5) he got another fungus and started to looked a little red. So I tubbed him again. My other boy got a fungus so I tubbed him to. His eyes also started to look cloudy. at this point IAL where not working so i tried meth blue. and it helped. I talked to the breeder I got my axolotl from and she said it could be the plastic plants so I removed the plastic plants and got live ones instead. They where both tubbed for a few weeks and they seem to be fine Lucy wasn’t red anymore and lost his fungus and Mel boy lost his fungus as well so I put them both back in the tank. (After making sure my tank parameters where fine) and he got red AGAIN and my other boy has these weird white spots on his gills that don’t really look like fungus. It’s weird and now I’m getting water ready to tub them again and I don’t know what to do because I really don’t want to clean everything and start my tank cycle all over again. The ph is 7.6 and the temp is 66. i did a 95% water change and nothing seems to be helping. Any advice or solutions would be very helpful and appreciated.
im attaching pics of the tank with the plastic plants that i no longer have, the white on my mels gills and cloudy eyes, my lucys fungus and red skin. ( i hope i did it right its my first post)
just tested the parameters and here are the results
ammonia- 0ppm
nitrite-0ppm
nitrate- 10-20ppm

Bumping. Dang thats very strange. I wish I could help but I'm new to the hobby. Is your temp stable? I know that temp fluctuations aggravate axolotl immune systems and can cause a fungal flare.
Heres a thread about fungus growing on plastic plants or in the tank. They eventually got rid of it.
Also, I know theres some differing views on fridging and such, but most of the time people recommend salt baths for fungal infections in conjunction with whatever medication you choose to use. Also, some medications will kill the bacteria in your tank so you might want to treat them in hospital tanks/tubs.
Good luck!

There could be a bacterial infection going on, which weakens the axolotls' immune systems and could cause fungus. Have you removed the chiller from the tank? Not sure why that might cause a sudden shift, but it's another new addition, and that's usually the first place to look when trying to figure out the culprit.
