Help identiying a newt......

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help in finding out that the heck of a kind of newt(or salamander) this is.

I posted a question on a swedish forum but all i got was that it was a Triturus, but when i checked i noticed that there was around 8-9 different Triturus.

Hi, to mee it looks like a lissotriton (triturus) vulgaris.

Will, I was wondering about the spotted pattern. My encounters with adults of this species have been few but I don't recall females with such spots. Do you think it's a male?

if it it lissotriton (triturus) vulgaris then it's illegal to even handle them in sweden. so i hope that it's something else.

I agree. Looks like a young male vulgaris outside of breeding season.

sorry Ester, missed your post, i don't know what sex it is but to me it looks like a male. also there are no other lissotriton in sweden, so it has to be vulgaris.
