Question: Help i think my tiger is choking

I just fed my tiger a few live crickits an i think one of them could of been to big.he is moving his head back and forth (kinda like stevie wonder )and repeatedly opening and closing his mouth any advice?

First, your tiger is fine. He's just eating.

Secondly, tiger salamanders are illegal to possess in the state of California. Please read the relevant laws here.

If your salamander is over 6 icnhes there isn't a store bought cricket that is to big for it to eat . Tiger salamanders shake their heads violently to stun and subdue their prey.

i'm glad you said that! we wondered the same thing last night...if the worm we gave Spike was too big, it kept trying to crawl out of his mouth and then spike would open and close his mouth, etc and dh was worried he would (was) choking on it.

if no crickets are too big, how much worm? dont want to stuff him and make him sick.
last night he ate 3 small white crickets ( one crawled on his face,,,thats a cricket with a death wish!) and a troutworm, cut in half, fed him both halves.

tigers are so fascinating to watch.

good to know thats just how they eat
