Hi there, I'm a new axolotl owner. I just started my research on them when I was surprised with an axolotl for my birthday. Had to learn really quick on how to take care of him. I'm afraid I'm not doing good enough for my lil man and I would just like opinions on if he has a fungal infection like I think he does. Also tips on how to help him feel better quickly and how to prevent it from happening again.
Thank you.

the photos aren't clear enough to say yes or no (there are areas which look greyish/fuzzy but could just be photo blur)
make sure your tank is cycled and that the water parameters are good, bad or lack of cycling tends to cause major issues as an axolotl gets older, incorrect water parameters can cause major problems and even death in worse case scenarios.
to deal with fungal issues use 100% holtfreters + 0.2g/l magnesium sulphate in the tank, for fungal prevention and to produce optimal water conditions always use 50% holtfreters + 0.1g/l magnesium sulphate in any water containing axolotls (as well as providing the required amounts of salts/minerals it protects against issues including fungal, edema as well as protection against nitrogen compound spikes)
