My salamander has not been eating lately. She just floats at the top of the tank and does not eat. She has what looks like a fungus on her face that I just noticed on her face today, so I am going to give her a salt bath tomorrow, but she still wont eat. It has been only a few days since she last ate but I am still worried. She just floats at the top of the tank and that is not like her. Help!!!!

So sorry abut your loss!! Fungus & mold is a direct enemy of salamanders. Usually when it is visible on them, it is too late. If it is seen in the tank, remove/clean it immediately. I recently soaked a frog in a mild fish treatment intended for fungus. Her cloudy eyes have cleared up. Not sure if this may work for salamanders as well. Take care.

Just for the records in case anyone opens this with a similar problem do you think you could tell us more about what type of Salamander it was and what type of cage set up you had?

I lost my very first Salamander about 5-6 years ago to fungus. It does suck.

Sorry to hear about it.

It was a tiger salamander larva and she was in a 10 gallon fish tank

How do you give a salt bath to your salamander? Mine isn't eating for about 2 weeks now. There isn't a vet here. I've had him for three years. I'm very worried.

My newt died from a white fungus on her leg too...I feel ya
