i was given 4 efts that had been caught in the wild to take care of this past weekend. I have not fed them yet and tried to give them frozen brine shrimp and they would not eat this. I have them in a large 20L tank on gravel and some moss with larger rocks in puddles of water. I have been misting with spring water but they only seem to hide. I have not fed them anything yet and this is worrying me. Does any one have any suggestions as to what efts caught in mid state New York would like to eat best frozen or live? and what is the best manner to give it to them?

Efts will need small, live foods. Your best bet would be to go with whiteworms, fruit-flies, spring-tails, or pin-head crickets. All of these can be bought online or (occasionally) in store, and can be cultured at home.

Additionally, you could chop earthworm into small pieces and try hand feeding the efts using a tooth-pick or tweezers. It may take a few tries, but with patience it pays off.

Good Luck!

Anything tiny, moving, and arthopodic; also small worms like mentioned above. WC juveniles will most likely ignore frozen and pelleted foods for a while. Just for giggles, you may want to net a few mosquito larvae and put them in the puddles.

Also, they will hide. A lot. Expect to see them mostly from dusk until dawn. In fact, make sure they have plenty of places to hide, and a few "dry" spots with hides.
