hi i bought two albino axolotls yesturday and the man gave me 4 baby newts free he said they live in water the whole live and dont need land the parent newts colour was similar to a wild-type axolotl, i was woundering if any one knows any breed of newts that live in water all their life and dont need land? thanks jodie:eek:

There are a lot of species that are fully aquatic in captivity, in fact, most of the available species are. If you post a picture we will be able to tell you which species you have. It´s likely to be Hypselotriton orientalis, in which case i doubt they are babies, they most probably are small adults.
Don´t mix them! Put the small newts in a separate tank or they will get eaten or damaged.

Until we have an ID, check out the general care articles in my signature, you´ll find lots of excellent info there.

thank you so much for your reply:D:p i actually seen there parents he had lolads ofadults and the adults were about 8 inches and the babies look like baby axolotls but there not as ive raised axolotls just dont know what breed they are :confused:?

thank you so much thats what they are Pleurodeles waltl (spanish ribbed newts) i forgot to ask because i was picking my 2 axolotls and he just gave me 5 but i gave one to my friend :p

Free Pleurodeles with every axolotl purchase, that´s a nice deal xD
They are a fantastic species and can be raised and cared for just like axolotls, it´s a very easy and rewarding species.

I wouldn't recommend it, it will probably end badly
