My set-up is a 40 gallon breeder tank, and I am currently running a hydor 250 canister filter. I cant seem to decide what size chiller! The 1/10hp and 1/4hp requires minimum 264 gph, which seems high!

How to set it up has been confusing as well. I have read where people have hooked up to their canister filter and the filter acts as the pump, and I have read where a separate submersible pump is used.

Any advice on size, proper set-up would be greatly appreciated!

It can be confusing! I have 3 tanks (55g, 40g, and 20G long) and 3 chillers ; this setup after much trial and <costly> error. The AquaEuro 1/13 HP seems to be working well for all three; and it's one of the least expensive chillers out there. If you have a canister filter then no need for the submersible pump. You just need to connect a tube from the canister outflow to the chiller inflow, then connect the chiller outflow to your spraybar. Strongly suggest purchasing clamps to tighten around the tube/machine points - it can get messy if you don't.... There are plenty of you tube video's out there to help as well.

Good luck!
