Hello!

Thank you for reading :)

I recently moved my axolotl from a 25 gallon tank into a 40 gallon tank because he was getting so big and he looked like he needed more room to walk around. I was feeding him an earthworm every 3 days with a few "stinky cookies" (sinking pellets) and he was always happy to eat it all.

It has been nearly 2 weeks since we moved tanks and he doesn't seem to have any interest in eating. Sometimes he will bite the food, then spit it out but usually he just ignores the food we dangle in front of him.

Water has been testing normally and nothing else has changed aside from the tank size with a few new decorations inside.

I also catch him swimming erratically and bonking into the glass much more than I've seen before. I am very worried, so any advice you could give is very welcome!

Thank you for reading

is the filter the same or has it been upgraded?
has the water oxygenation been increase along with the tank size?
is he showing any signs of stress or change?
how long after moving tanks did he stop eating.

at 14cm he/she is still growing but also very movement orientated so try using live food, ie.. river/ghost/mysis/cherry shrimp, platy/guppy/molly fish, blood/black/earth/night crawler worms. also axies will eat a variety or frozen foods ie.. bloodworm/mysis shrimp/krill/brineshrimp/chopped cockle/chopped mussel/beef heart as well as frozen prawn and chopped king prawns, sometimes axolotls just get bored or go off the food so it is always good to give a variety.
20°c is a bit high 14°c - 18°c are the ideal temperatures colder being better just keep it in double digits ie.. 10°c >

Muito obrigado, ele já comia camarão congelado, pois não aceitou a ração, vou tentar dar minhocas para ele.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. I also asked this as an actual question in a thread in case anyone wants to answer it there instead of here
