Yesterday my axolotl jumped out of his tank (around 1 1/2m off the ground) while I was out for around 6 hours. I don’t know how long he was out of the water but he crawled around 1m away into a shady spot. I have put on a lid on it now.

The water parameters were:
ph: 7.4
ammonia: 0.25ppm
nitrite: 0ppm
nitrate: 15ppm

The ammonia has since dropped to 0, and the nitrate is at 10.

My axolotl is extremely stressed—his tail tip is curled, he is very pale and his gills are very far forward. His extremities have turned white, his veins are showing, and he has barely moved in around 24 hours. He has a tiny cut on his tail, but that’s the only external damage I can see.

Is there anything I can do for him? I was thinking about putting almond leaves or decaffeinated 100% tea in his tank, is this a good idea?

TLDR: Axolotl jumped out of tank yesterday and was out of the water for up to 6 hours. What should I do?

although axolotls do decide at times to just jump out of the water sometimes it can be due to water issues, was he at the surface more frequently? gulping or overly energetic prior to his escape.
check your kh and gh.
ensure water temperature is good 15°c-18°c
how was the tank cycled? there shouldn't normally be any ammonia unless there is an issue with your biological filtration.
the tannins from almond/catappa leaves should provide some soothing

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
