Today, I was doing a water change after I tested parameters. Everything was a bit high, she had hidden a poop again. I was going to do a fairly sizable water change so I filled a tub up with water and had her in my hands when she jumped. She wriggled on the floor and I grabbed her a gently as I could before putting her in the tub and draping a towel over it. I put her back in her tank after her water change, and added the more prime than needed. I saw her quick before she ran into her hide, she has a 2 little nicks on her dorsal fin and a very tiny chunk out of the end of her tail. I feel horrible, but she should be okay right? She was very pale from the stress but I opened my window to make my room as cold as possible, and her water sits at 62 last time I checked. She’s in her tube right now. I know axolotls are amazing healers, but is there anything I should watch out for? I was thinking of adding tannins, but would green tea work, I don’t have any black tea and can’t run out. It’s pure green tea, and I would not brew it as long.

Update: I just checked on her. She’s out of her tube and chilling by her terracotta pot. She still had one rip in her tail and the tiny chunk at her tip, but the super tiny tear is already healed!! Next time I’m at a pet store I’m buying the biggest fine fish net I can find. I hope she’s not in too much pain:(

Mine once jumped out of its tank and I only found out several minutes later. He healed just fine. You should not have any trouble. Just keep the water extra clean!

Whew, okay thank you. This is the rip in her tail, it’s not too bad, but it still has some blood. I tested her parameters as soon as I woke up, everything is 0 except maybe nitrate is 2. I never seem to get nitrate, but I do let a lot of the transparent algae grow on the back of the glass so it keeps it down. And I scrape it off every now and then. Sorry for the bad picture quality, it was an awkward angle.
