Hey everyone, just joined the site. My critters and I are from ohio, usa. I have 5 axolotls, and that's it for amphibians, I do have two sulcata tortoises but they don't swim very well :D I'll put a picture of my axie tank up if my tech illiterate brain can manage it. It's a 90 gallon, canister filter, fan cooled (until I can find a chiller that costs less than my rent). Thanks for reading.

Hi, welcome to the site. :)
I also keep African tortoises, mine are 16yr old southern Leopards. I know they can swim quite well after they bulldozed our tranquil nature pond into a muddy swamp one afternoon. Its amazing how strong and destructive they can be, I bet the sulcatas are even worse.

Thanks for the welcome :) I love the leopards as well, (yours are very good looking) but I went with sulcatas because there is a very committed local breeder here. Mine are very young yet, the oldest is almost 5, but yes they are definitely capable of being very destructive. If it's green they are going to eat it, if it's brown they are going to dig it.

Is my newt okay if I poke it? I think I accidentally poked him too hard and I'm worried I hurt him. Help lol

Hello, I’m looking for fire bellied newts that will ship to Ontario, Canada. Are there any captive breeders here? I’ve had many in the past and I’m looking to get a pair for my 12 yr old. I will be the care taker!

Hello. I’m looking for some input. My axolotl is about 7 months old. I came home and her gills are completely white. I was reading that they do shed around this age. Could this be why her gills are white? The ph is 6.5-7. Nitrates are 80 Nitrites 0.5

My axolotl’s gills have turned completely white. she is about 7 months old. I fed her a couple of pellets to see if she would eat. One hit her head and she flipped out. Started darting all around the tank. Temp, ammonia, nitrates are all in range. Anyone know why this is happening? I pu
