I was wondering if it is legal to keep these as pets and where you can get them
and any other info possable.
aquarium size?how big?
 
Yes it is possible to legally obtain them. BUT most of the ones offered for sale are most likely illegally collected. It is still legal to colect them in WV, KY and maybe PA, but you might need a fishing license.

These salamanders are only suitable for advanced hobbyists who want to try and breed them, but not suitable as pets. They require specific care and an aquarium of no less than 55 gallons. I suggest that anyone interested in keeping hellbenders, either collect your own or don't keep them. Otherwise you are supporting the commercial trade in a species that cannot handle commercial collection at this point.
 
I agree with Erik. Ohh and I would go min. 75-120 gallon long tank. You might also need a nice chiller, depending.

    Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
