Hi!

I'm not sure if I'm posting this on the right section, but have anyone of you have bought newts, or any other animal from this place http://www.reptilecity.com ? I'm asking cause if I can't find my newts locally I might consider getting my newts from this place, since they have CFBN and they ship to PR (plus their shipping is not that bad, actually! 19.95 for up to 6 animals). If anyone has brought from them, how are the animals? healthy? and is their service good? Is it true that the shipping is actually 19.95 (no hidden charges or anything?) it's the shipping safe (not using a cheap thing that's not safe?).

If not, do you know of any other place where I could get them? I'm looking for fire bellied newts (Cynops orientalis, C. Pyrrhogaster), crested newts (Triturus cristatus)and/or marbled salamander (Ambystoma opacum) Might get a salamander and a couple of newts (not to be housed together, of course)depending on prices and my funds when I'm prepared to get my animals. So if you know a place where I could get my animals that's better than the one I mentioned, feel free to post it. It's really hard to find newt/salamander breeders out there. Thanks in advance for your help. 8)

I wouldn't know if the animals are healthy but it's fairly clear that like most pet shops they don't really know much about the animals they are selling. There's no mention of whether they are captive bred or wild caught (so assume they are WC).They suggest that sals should be sexed by tail length and that Ambystoma tigrinum reaches a maximum size of 6" when it's nearer double that. Some of the species you mention are regularly bred in captivity in the US and there are many good reasons to get CB rather than WC. Try posting on the wanted section of the forum?
