Hey all, I have a few questions. I have 2 axolotls that hatched about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I've finally gotten them to eat frozen brine shrimp after some time and they're starting to get a bit bigger. Is there a better food that you would suggest for much younger axolotls and how often should I be feeding them? Also, I was wondering how big should they be before I put them in the tank? I've got a 10 gallon that I've had up and running for a while and I'm getting eager to put them in!

Hi,

what your larvae in size?
When they are nearly 1 inch, you can feed them daphnia, blackworms and bloodworms.
I would put them in a 10 gal tank when they are round about 2,5 - 3 inches in size.

They are both about 1/2 an inch to 3/4 of an inch right now, so I'll just keep them on their current diet. And I guess I have some time before I can get them in the tank. Thanks for the reply!

are you feeding them frozen baby brine shrimp? I bought some frozen brine shrimp for my 1"+ babies and they are not interested, the shrimp are bigger then their heads still! So Im weaning them off live bbs and onto chopped frozen bloodworms. now I have 29cubes of brine shrimp that nobody wants, I need to mix it in bloodworms for my juveniles for them to eat it, and guppies don't even seem to really like it -.-

oh, yes of course! When I read larvae and baby brine shrimps, I always think of newly hatched baby brine shrimps.;)
Larvae at this age cannot smell the food, they only act on movements. So they need live food.

Yeah I have them eating frozen baby brine shrimp. I usually put them in a smaller container and move the food around so they'll go for it. They seem to eat a lot, everyday and are finally growing their legs a bit.
