Hatchling food

Well, after the initial setback, I now have 13 healthy babies that are 4-5 days old and eating BBS very well. How long can I continue to feed them BBS before they get too big? After the BBS, what should I feed them? I would love to get them blackworms, but I can only think of one place to get them, and it's over 5.5 hours away from where I'm going to school, so is there anywhere online I can order them? I checked out California Blackworms and they are ridiculously expensive. Otherwise, what alternatives are there? I would like to find them live foods, as I feel that they would eat them better (and my sister will be caring for them from age 2-4 weeks, as I will be on a mission trip and I would like it to be as easy as possible for her). Since it seems that live foods are difficult to find in my area (I'll be calling pet stores tomorrow), is there any foods I can order online? and where? Thanks for any input!

Would fruit fly larvae be a viable option?

Perhaps bloodworms or D. magna? Also, where in the US do you live? I have a pound of blackworms, if you're nearby we could maybe work something out!

Once they are too big for BBS, they should be able to eat frozen bloodworms just fine. That would probably be easier than live food.

I go to school in South Dakota and reside in Minnesota, so I travel between the two. I can get frozen bloodworms, I'm just being a worried caretaker and hoping for something live that seems like they would be more likely to eat it.

they may not be interested in non living food for the first month so frozen blood worm may not be an early option, though i know a couple of people who have used chopped frozen bloodworm quite early and used an air pump to help move it around the tank, have you access to live daphnia?

You can try WhiteWorms, You can find them on the forum at the For sale section. OtterWoman sells them. They are amazing ! My 1 month olds love them ! WhiteWorms are easy to take care of as well.

I'll have to look into whiteworms! Would larger daphnia be ok until they grow all their legs? The only way I can get any would be to order it online, but it could happen.

I'm sure larger daphnia would work... but from what I've noticed with my clutch, the daphnia freak them out. I think they might move too much?

It swims by and they attack it, but once it's in their mouth they start to swim in circles frantically and get kind of twitchy. Sometimes they even spit it back out. It gets eaten eventually but it's strange. I've not seen this behavior with BBS or blackworms.
