Hi! I've been researching the best black sand for my axolotl tank and I've found several mixed opinions. do you think that this sand is too large and would the Instant Aquarium version be safe to use? Thanks!

Hi, sorry if this is late. I use this sand with my axxie and she's fine with it. She will actually dig in it. If you do/have gotten it I recommend that it be washed thoroughly though as it does make water black and nasty. I find that the sand is a great size and recently purchased more. The only problem I have is that it's not so good with live plants but my axxie doesn't really care about how they look as long as she can hide in them. Overall I love the sand and wouldn't get anything else for my axxie

Personally I opted against it since it's somewhat abrasive and their skin is so delicate. But if you decide to go for it, you might want to get coal slag instead, which seems to be the exact same thing for a fraction of the price.
