Has anyone ever tried to cool their tank using a household fan? i have a ten gallon and the temp to drop about 6 degrees. thanks!

yes i have. it helped a lot. but i was wondering if someone could tell me approximately how many degrees the fan would cool it. the other ways are either too expensive or require a bunch of setup or require it being moved. and I'm limited to my dorm room.

It really depends on relative humidity. The lower the humidity, the higher the evaporation will be, and the lower you can drop the temperature with a fan. I wouldn't expect anything more than 3-4 degrees. Larger tanks also resist warming better than smaller bodies of water.

hmm okay thank you. i have a paddle tail newt and the temperate is at 68 after i put a couple ice bottles in it. ):
