I can get worms from my local fishing shop but to make sure i get fresh healthy worms I was thinking about making my own worm farm.
Would anyone recommend this or have any of you done this?

I have and still am. Earthworms are slow breeders, so if you take too many too fast or if you don't have a big enough space, you should go with red wigglers. They breed faster, but they're smaller and when they're cut, they stink, so your axolotl may not like them. I'd recommend testing whether or not they'd eat one before making a farm. Oh, and also if you do make one, put crushed eggshells in it to speed up the reproduction rates.
