I rescued these two axolotls a while back, they were suffering from ammonia burns and fungus. The green one has a very unusual coloration so I decided to breed it with one of my females. I now have a couple hundred young axolotls ranging in size from 1"-2", most are displaying a very green hue, I will be keeping half a dozen to grow on, if they resemble the father I will be trying to fix the coloration by breeding the females back to him.

I love that color green. Wish you were in the states so I could get a couple young ones from you.

Hey Ian, that's a very nicely coloured axolotl you have their. Almost looks like a marbled newt crossed with an axolotl! Any chance of some more photos of the adult or the babies?

Regards Neil

Lol , I refered to it as "marm" coloured when I showed my friends the pic. My camera work is poor so I will need to wait till the babies are bigger till I get some shots of them. I rehomed the male as I was out of tank space, however he will be available for a breeding loan late next year.

The green hued one is gorgeous :D

I'm looking forward to adding a wild one to my tank one day :) but I'll wait to work out if my Splat is a boy or a girl first.

There is no guarantee that the young will express the same colouration as the father, though many appear green now it may not be the colour they end up, they could potentially darken as they age to a darker green . I hope to select the greenest ones for myself and breed them back to the father, hopefully those offspring will express the colouration.

Wow, never seen that color before! Do you have some better pics, frontview, sideview...

Sorry , that is the only pic i got, I will try to get some more when I visit my friend.

That colour is lush. So very very tempted , just need to work out how to sneak one past the boyfriend ;)

That is a lovely colour axie! Good luck with the "hulk" babies.

And it's my birthday in March, could even wangle a new tank ;)

There is no guarantee that the young will express the same colouration as the father, though many appear bright green now it may not be the colour they end up, they could potentially darken as they age to a darker green .

I know, I can hope though . My local shop only stocks the albinos and I would like at some point to expand my colour range. I am naturally suspicious of suppliers so am nervous about ordering 'blind' off the internet. The guy that runs my local shop offered to order me some wild types but my two albinos arrived with bellies full of gravel so I'm not sure that's the best route to go down :(

I have golden and leucistic just hatching, will be ready in a few months, they will be collection only so if you want them you are only an hour away. I will pm you a link, a friend of mine in Gorsenion has a couple of wildtypes for sale.

Too bad you live so far away! What a gorgeous colour! I hope the babies turn out green too! But even if they don't, they will be cute all the same, after all, you can't get cuter than an axie!
