im setting up a small tank for the babies when my walking fish breed.
i have gravel in there, and i was wondering if its ok to leave the gravel in there or take it out. thanks :D

Best to have a bare tank floor if you intend raising babies when your axies breed and is easier for cleaning. Gravel , IMO, shouldn't be used at all, whether they're babies, juvies or adults.

i tried to use gravel. its really hard to see the babies in the gravel because they slip in between the cracks lol. so i changed to bare and its a lot easier to see them and keep an eye on there health.

its easier to feed them too if your using things like chopped blackworm or bloodworms etc

ok i just thought it would be a good idea cos it will help with hiding spots and ill be using small mosquito lave to feed the babies.

Hi,

l was told to seperate babies when they hatch can you keep them all in one tank together? My babies have been hatching the last few days and l am up to 80 now, and still more are wiggling in the eggs.

You should start a new thread with your questions, but you can keep them in the tank together, but you'll have to be wary of cannibalization. Frankly, I see no need to raise 80+ larvae and would leave most of them with the parents to be eaten.

yeah, cos it will be my first time i will only be keeping 10 eggs.
