Just got my two axolotl's! They are both acclimating right now. I do have one question, I have the juvenile in a ten gallon tank, and the larvae in a tubaware container, and while browsing the web I read somewhere that keeping larvae in plastic containers grows bacteria that might hurt them. Is this true? I can find something else to put him in, but this seemed like the best place size wise, because it's really long and wide for a tubaware container. Anyone have a problem raising larvae in tubaware containers?

Re: Got Them! Tubaware question

Lol, I resisted the urge to correct you on your transportation post...it's "tupperware". Both containers are fine, just make sure to keep up with frequent water changes.

Re: Got Them! Tubaware question

lol, my bad I'm just so exited I typed everything out a bit quickly. I'll be keeping up the daily water changes, now I just hope the larvae eats blood worms

Re: Got Them! Tubaware question

he's pretty small, you can see the front limbs starting to form, but they're just sticks. Put a tape measurer up above the water and he was about an inch and a half

Re: Got Them! Tubaware question

I've heard chopped blackworm can be used after BBS/Daphnia.

Re: Got Them! Tubaware question

the breeder actually sent some live blackworms with the little guy, and I didn't find it till later. Larvae's eaten both a blackworm and a bloodworm, and the juveniles had a piece of chopped baby nightcrawler. Posting pictures in a second

This is the larvae in the tupperware, pretty bad picture but my camera isn't amazing

Re: Got Them! Tubaware question

Still looks small enough that it could eat daphnia...but I suppose you could try chopped blackworms.

Re: Got Them! Tubaware question

I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but if I got a little breeder box and put it in the ten gallon would that work fine?

Re: Got Them! Tubaware question

Yeah, the larvae would be fine in a breeder box in the 10 gallon tank.
