Got my chiller today, external filter needed?

I got my (second hand) chiller today, a resun CL-280.
After inspecting it and checking if it worked etc. I noticed that there was no pumping pressure from the tube exits..there was no manual with my chiller that I could read, so I searched online and found a manual for the 'pacific coast CL-280'. It looks exactly the same, so I assume it's the same model.
In that manual the illustrations show an external filter, and internal and external pumps as examples of connecting the chiller.

Do I need an external filter for it to work?
What kind of filter do I need? I believe the chiller is 150-300litres/hour, so do I need a filter that is equally powerful, or a more powerful one?
There is about 120 litres of water in my tank.

I currently have a carbon filter that I was already thinking of replacing, so if needed, I'd like to buy an external filter.

sorry about the ton of text

After a bit of research I found out that the chiller can handle 500-1000L/h...but that sounds like overkill

yeah you need an external canister filter.

Put the IN hose on the filter into the tank.

Connect the OUT hose of the filter to the IN port on the chiller.

Put the OUT hose of the chiller into the fish tank.

Canister filters generally have handles to change the flow inputs and outputs.

Too easy.

Can you reccomend a certain filter?(minimum L/h etc.) Having a filter that is too weak is useless, but a filter that is way too powerful is a waste of money :p

What kind of horse power is your chiller? 1/10? If it's a 1/10 horse power chiller, get what i've got - the "Aqua one 1200 CF". It's a beast of a canister filter (designed for 4ft tanks) that can handle 1200 litres of water per hour. Luckily it has adjustable flow knobs.

My Aqua One 1200 CF is connected to my Hailea 250A model chiller and works a charm. 17 DEGREES CELCIUS IN 40 DEGREE HEAT BABY YEAHHHHHH!
