Hello i'm new here so i would like to ask a few quick questions...

Is it ok to keep a Pansy with my newt?
When I talk about a pansy, I mean I would plant it in a clean ceramic pot, Although my newt would probably be able to climb in.

What plants would be good to have?
Any easy to grow plants, preferrably smaller.

Basically these are some plants i have in my enclosure,
a certain type of moss that is easier to care for and doesn't have spores*,
a Fern, and some other small safe plants.

*This moss is hard to describe, it is like a cross of a moss and a regular plant, I can't get any pictures up at the moment, I haven't seen any visible Spores, and It's not dangerous, its been with him for over a year.

Also, any Moderators or anyone, Move this to the appropriate spot if this wasn't the right spot to place it.

The moss you describe might be Selaginella, which is not really a moss at all, but closer related to ferns. Does it look anything like this?

as for Pansies, I have no idea. I would guess they probably won't work out. They might need more light than what's in a typical newt tank, but I don't know.

It's best to use hardy leafy plants that like low light. One of the best is pothos (also called Epipremnum or Scindapsus). It grows in just about any condition

Ok. Thanks for the tips!:D

That moss didn't look like it, But its nothing to worry about. Maybe i can put pictures up for everyone later. As long as you water it well, it never dried out for me.

I will look into the pothos sooner or later.

Really love the look of my ferns and I will look into Pothos soon most likely.

As for the moss, it is surely not poisonous, and it is different.
It's easier to care for than moss off a tree or something, It takes multiple forgets to dry up. It looks different than that moss, but I do have some of that in as well.;)

Thanks for the tips, I appreciate anything.

Just an instance, this isn't me...
If i had 2 juvenile newts, and they both turned out to be male, Then would they fight?
just wondering.;)

Sorry for the double post above, forgot it had to be moderated and just thought it didn't post. A Moderator could delete one if they want.

Now, from above, If I had two Juvenile Notos, and i raised them together and they both turned out to be male, would they fight when they were adults?

Any imput would be nice.

Pansies will work out perfectly if your enclosure is not totally aquatic.. Pansies are completely safe and even edible... they also are shade flowers so if you have a UVB or window light on the tank at all... they should thrive... If not they may or may not... But its perfectly safe for any kind of critter.

I happen to have a pansy plant in my noto tank! Its doing pretty well but I have a some uvb light available. I also have pothos and wild grass in the land portion.

Thanks! I have my tank next to a shady window, and the pansy is doing fine as it is, so it would be a problem. Thank you all!
