Hey Guys!
So, I had an idea this evening, and just put it into practice.
I decided to remove the sand substrate from my tank to ease cleaning while Axel is still in a small ish tank.
But I was faced with the dilemma of holding down my plants, which are plastic, and require some sort of weight to hold the base down.
So... my big idea!
I've cut the base off a plastic milk bottle to make a shallow tray, filled it with sand and "planted" my plants in the sand and placed in the bottom of the tank and changed the water and fed Axel as normal, one nice big juicy worm which he devoured!
so far It's an ideal solution until I get a larger tank and probably some live plants and set a couple of levels up in the tank.
Got my eye on a few cheap ones, and still considering a plywood tank, if I can get some glass
So yeah, moral of the story, before considering buying anything for your tank, look around your home for things to use!
Another couple of changes I'll be making, I've got a nice rock hide ready for a large tank, just need to be siliconed together.
Also, since taking on my allotment (my giant worm farm) last month I have an abundance of plastic plant pots, Which I will be making a couple of hides from, will probably be siliconing rocks and stones to them for decoration and strength. Will get some photos once It's done. May even offer them for sale if I get time to make a few/Make them to order
Hope my ideas come in handy, Always best to share the good ones!
