Came home from being away for 3 days (my mum was looking after my 2 axies) and she didn't notice there were eggs everywhere! I think I know what to do - I'm about to order some brine shrimp eggs and a hatchery thing online and I've removed the eggs from the tank and put them in a plastic container (that was a messy and very slimy job!) I'm a bit worried I may have handled them too much or too roughly...I guess I'll just leave them and see what happens. I've used water taken directly from their tank, but since it's a smaller container the water will warm up a little more (it's about 12 degrees C at the mo so not too warm). So do I need to do any water changes over the next 2 weeks or just after they're hatched? Also, in the 2nd photo you can see 3 big white blobs that look different from the rest of the eggs like bubbley things with no membrane...any ideas what they are? (btw the dark blue stuff is the sand from the tank- I'm assuming that won't be a problem )

By the way - If anyone would like any and you live close enough to Kent you're more than welcome to some! I can't raise them all but I don't want to get rid of any until I know they're actually growing! This is my axies first batch so I know I might not get any :(

...Siona, you lucky cow. T^T I want to be a grandmama. =( lol

What a great looking bunch of eggies! The "white blobs" might be spermatophores, (IU think that's what they're called), which are the deposits the males make around the tank and the females pick up. Though, I've never seen them personally, so I'm not exactly sure if that's what they are.

But anywho, congrats on the eggs! :D

Congrats!

The blobby things look like they're just infertile eggs. Sometimes females will lay membranes with no embryo in them as well.

The sand will pose an issue to your little tiny guys: think gravel with adults. You'll want to put them in a bare bottom tub before they hatch. You won't need to do any water changes until they hatch. When you do water changes, it's best to take water from the adult tank.

Ah ok, thanks Jackie! :D
@Kasey I see your point about the sand - the eggs are already in a barebottom tub but the sand is stuck pretty firmly to the goo in places... but I'll do my best to clean them and I'll get rid of the white things. Thanks for the advice!

Ohhh how exciting! Looking forward to the pics of the babies ;)

I opened this thread with my fingers crossed going please be from Canada please be from Canada :p

Congratulations! I'm looking forward to lots of pictures of the development.

I can see them growing now - they've gone jellybean shaped :D
But I can't shift the sand! That stuff's like glue! I'm going to carefully clean the tub with the turkey baster when they hatch out anyway so hopefully I can suck it all up then and it shouldn't cause a problem.
